Firmware Update Fails

@Athom_Support - I followed the link you pointed too. It discusses the problem but doesn't really cover the solution.

@dr6449321 - Thank you for that info. It would be helpful if Athom Support could confirm that before I pull the device from it's installation home. Seems a reasonable request.

FYI, you need the ESP02 firmware, not 8266, turns out that's what they put in (8285 chip) https://www.athom.tech/blank-1/wled-rgbcct-analog-and-digital-light-strip-controller as well as I imagine yours. So you'll need the ESP02 firmware, and then compress it to a `.gz`. You should be able to do that over the WiFi, without pulling it. Unless you've b0rked the existing firmware, WLED supports OTA updates. See https://kno.wled.ge/basics/getting-started/#software-update-procedure

@drizzt321 Turns out that didn't work. What did, finally. I had to use the ESP8266 latest 0.14.0. and gzip the file. The beta versions simply would not work. After the update, it required I connect to the WLED AP and reconfigure Wifi. Unfortunately it completely reset the device. It also wiped out my presets. I'll take up the firmware update completely factory resetting my device as it's not an Athom related issue.
