Hello all, I'm planning on buying the Athom esp32 controller: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004929457839.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.432d3
and to use this 24v strip with it: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005046710332.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.5d0538daQu0e2J&mp=1
It should work right?
There aren't really any datasheets I can find and there is a 24v input on the the site / aliexpress page.
Regarding the input, do I have to input the power through the DC barrel jack or can I just clamp the wires on the vcc and ground?
Another thing I wanted to make sure of, in the case that for some reason the ssid wifi doesnt show up anymore, is there any other way of connecting to this device?
Is there a way to format / reset it to its factory settings?
Thanks for the help.
I think you should be fine. The Athom controller is using a modified WLED firmware and the strip is using the WS2811 chip which WLED supports. https://kno.wled.ge/basics/compatible-hardware/ You can connect VCC and ground how ever you like. Solder, barrel jack... It doesn't matter as long as you don't connect them the wrong way around. If the unit plays up and you loose connectivity then you can always perform a re-flash back to either the Athom or the original WLED firmware but this does require a bit of messing around. There are countless guides on how to flash an ESP chip on the internet.
