Matter Wi-Fi CO₂ Sensor with Tasmota, ESP32-C3 and SCD40
Smart Indoor Air Quality Monitoring
Monitor indoor carbon dioxide levels in real time with this compact Wi-Fi CO₂ sensor. It combines a Sensirion SCD40 photoacoustic sensor, an ESP32-C3 Wi-Fi chip and Tasmota firmware with Matter support.
Simply plug it into a USB power adapter, connect it to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and integrate it with your preferred smart home system.
Key Features
Sensirion SCD40 photoacoustic CO₂ sensor
Accurate CO₂ monitoring for indoor environments
Temperature and relative humidity readings
Built-in ESP32-C3 Wi-Fi microcontroller
Matter over Wi-Fi support
Compatible with MQTT and Home Assistant
Local Tasmota web interface
Direct USB firmware flashing
OTA firmware update support
Compact USB-powered design
No mandatory proprietary cloud service
Suitable for smart home automation
Matter Smart Home Integration
The sensor uses Matter over Wi-Fi and does not require a Thread Border Router. A compatible Matter controller or smart home hub may be required by your selected platform.
Displayed sensor values and available automation functions may vary according to the Matter platform, controller and firmware version.
Monitor Ventilation More Effectively
CO₂ concentration is a useful indicator of indoor ventilation. When several people stay in an enclosed space, CO₂ levels can rise quickly.
Use the sensor to monitor rooms such as:
Bedrooms
Living rooms
Home offices
Meeting rooms
Classrooms
Workshops
Studios
Smart ventilation systems
CO₂ readings can also be used in home automation rules to control fans, air exchangers, notifications or other compatible devices.
Powered by Tasmota
Tasmota provides flexible local configuration and smart home integration without requiring a mandatory proprietary cloud account.
Supported functions may include:
Matter over Wi-Fi
MQTT communication
Home Assistant discovery
Real-time sensor readings
Local web configuration
Configurable telemetry intervals
Automation rules
OTA firmware updates
Direct USB firmware flashing
Available functions depend on the installed Tasmota firmware build and device configuration.
Plug In and Power On
The sensor is powered by a standard 5 V USB connection.
It can be connected to:
A USB wall power adapter
A computer USB port
A powered USB hub
A compatible USB extension cable
Its compact plug-in design reduces cable clutter and makes it suitable for continuous indoor monitoring.
Direct USB Firmware Flashing
The ESP32-C3 supports firmware flashing through the USB connection. You can install, update or recover compatible firmware without using a separate USB-to-serial adapter.
This feature is useful for Tasmota users, developers and DIY smart home projects.

Package Contents
1 × ESP32-C3 Tasmota Matter Wi-Fi CO₂ Sensor
USB power adapter and other accessories are not included unless specified in the selected product option.
Important Information
The sensor supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only. It cannot connect directly to a 5 GHz-only network.
Matter functions require compatible Matter-enabled Tasmota firmware.
A Matter controller or compatible hub may be required for pairing.
Matter features and displayed measurements may vary between smart home platforms.
This is a Matter-over-Wi-Fi product. It does not use Thread.
Allow the sensor sufficient warm-up time after power-on before evaluating CO₂ readings.
Keep the sensor’s air openings unobstructed and install it where air can circulate naturally.
Do not place it directly beside heaters, air conditioners, humidifiers, open windows or a person’s breathing zone.
Internal device heat may influence temperature readings. Temperature and humidity values are intended mainly for compensation and general environmental monitoring.
This product is intended for indoor air quality monitoring.
